History
In the late 1950’s it became apparent that a more reliable loco than the Class 001/A was required. In 1961 fifteen Class 121 locos arrived in Dublin. These were built and supplied by GM EMD Illinois, being single cab Bo-Bo format  They entered service on mainline passenger routes. They were gradually withdrawn over a number of years ending in 2008.
