- Stations often had these Water Cranes at the ends of each platform so that locomotives could replenish their tanks during a journey without having to be uncoupled.
- The cranes were usually supplied by a large water tank. This Water Crane model is based on a Great Western prototype.
- Also included is a Fire Devil.
- This consists of a coke brazier and a long chimney flue to direct the hot exhaust gases onto the main cast iron pipe.
- This device would be kept lit in freezing temperatures to maintain water supplied to the trains throughout the hard winter months.
